What’s new in v1.2
New Features:
- Adds a stat stage display to the boss move info display.
- Adds player move effectiveness indicator that’s always visible.
- Add foe move effectiveness indicator that’s visible when showing foe move.
- Adds a new story boss to fight with permanent rewards!
- Defeat all 3 current bosses to unlock the new Winter Themed fight, featuring a modified progression.
Changes:
- Bouncy Bubble absorb percent changed from 100 to 50.
- Mandibuzz starting move changed from Tailwind -> Dual Wingbeat.
- Added a 1 turn cooldown to Thunder.
- Add popups to “Essence of Weather” abilities.
- General Xerneas adjustments
- New move added: Ray of Life – deals damage based on HP of user (Eruption/Water Spout clone)
- Circle of Life now ignores resistances and abilities of targets above 50% HP
- Yggdrasil’s Gift now increases damage against targets above 50% HP
- Abundance is now active when Xerneas is above 75% HP
- Abundance now also prevents self-inflicted stat drops.
- Move set has been changed.
- Boss selection has been moved to be after Lugia.
- Phase Changes no longer stop every move effect from happening.
- Adjusted speedup speed now persists within single battles, it’s reset to default settings next battle.
- Azumarill no longer uses Belly Drum in P2, lengthened P1 to reduce chance of it using it twice in P1.
Fixes:
- Fix Fated abilities not triggering after the first turn.
- Fix Scorching voltage not checking if the target can be burned.
- Fixes the following abilities prematurely ending MoveEnd checks:
- Winds of Change
- Flame Cloak
- Flourish
- Willpower
- Mental Block
- Adds check to the Empath ability so that it can’t trigger on fainted mons.
- Fixes Cloudburst and Sunrise causing an infinite loop if triggering off the same attack.
- Fix line breaks in Satsuki “Deciphering” dialogue.
- Remove behaviour from SELECT_BUTTON in the overworld.
- Fix Steel Beam colouring all sprites pink when using speedup.
- Fated Change, fix self-targeting status moves targeting the wrong battler.
- Fix Fire Spin+ crashing the game.
- Fixes side-mons being incorrectly assigned when the lead is fainted at start of battle.
- Fix abilities sometimes disappearing.
What’s new in v1.1
Add speedup functionality:
- Speedup can be enabled in the Options menu, where the default speedup can be set.
- When enabled, during battles, the amount of speedup can be changed with L/R.
- Battles can be paused and unpaused with B.
Balance changes:
- The ‘Fated’ abilities now take move cooldown in consideration.
- The longer the CD, the longer it takes for the move to activate.
- Exhaustion damage now scales with move cooldown.
- Giratina is now invincible to end-of-turn effects while vanished.
- Sleep max duration: 3 turns -> 2 turns
- Add cooldown to Surf: 0 turn -> 1 turn
- Burn and Frostbite dmg reduction: 50% -> 25%
- Reflect, Light Screen and Aurora Veil damage reduction: 50% -> 33%

Battle related changes
- Sandy Shocks: Charged effect now correctly ends when using Volt Switch.
- Fix End of Turn handling for Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres that was crashing fights.
- Dread no longer triggers if target already has a status effect.
- Dimension break now behaves like Phantom Force, rather than Fly.
- Fainted Pokemon will no longer be un-fainted after releasing them from Planar Imprisonment’s Banish.
Graphical
- Fixed Yes / No popup not disappearing after saving.
- Fixed the messagebox becoming invisible after viewing an archive entry.
- Update overworld maps to get rid of overlap issues.
- Fix camera not unlocking properly after opening an archive.
- Fix Satsuki’s text not printing properly in some dialogue.
- Fix “Rising Tide” being wrongly spelled.
- Replace ball throw animation with a slide animation when switching mons.
- Changed the ball Tiana throws from strange ball -> pokeball.
- Add input button info to Archive & Info menus
- Expanded textbox of the abilities in the victory screen so it fits all abilities.
- Added in missing portraits for Gastrodon & Sandaconda.
How To Patch & Play
To patch and play the game, you’ll need the following:
- A clean copy of Pokemon Emerald (TrashMan version is recommended)
- A patching tool such as ROM Patcher JS — a web-based tool that works on all devices, no installation required
- The patch file, available for download in the table above
How to Use ROM Patcher JS to Patch the Game
- Open the ROM Patcher JS website
- Under “ROM File”, select your clean Pokemon Emerald ROM (TrashMan version recommended)
- Under “Patch File”, select the Pokemon Recordkeepers patch file you downloaded from this page
- Click the “Apply Patch” button
- Once complete, the patched ROM will be downloaded automatically
- Locate the patched file in your Downloads folder and open it with one of the recommended emulators to start playing
Recommended Emulator
- Android: MyBoy
- PC (Windows/Linux): mGBA
- iOS: Delta
- Other systems: Most GBA emulators should work smoothly
While the above emulators tend to perform better and are recommended, you can use any other GBA emulator as well. The game is compatible with most GBA emulators.
How to finally Play the Game
- Complete the patching process using ROM Patcher JS (instructions above)
- Locate the patched ROM file in your Downloads folder
- Open your preferred GBA emulator (e.g., MyBoy, mGBA, Delta)
- Load the patched ROM file in the emulator
- Start playing Pokemon Recordkeepers!
